OSHA Reveals Winners of Its 2023 ‘Beat the Heat’ Contest

The program aims to spread awareness of the dangers of heat exposure in the workplace.

OSHA’s “Beat the Heat” contest has officially come to a close, and it’s time to give the winners their due.

In a release dated August 15, OSHA announced which submissions from the national competition won acknowledgment. The “Beat the Heat” contest is a challenge to see which entrants have the best strategy to increase awareness of the dangerous effects of heat exposure in the workplace.

The OSHA-sponsored contest—which ran from April 19, 2023 to June 9, 2023—focuses on “educating stakeholders on the dangers of hazardous heat,” according to the contest’s webpage. That mission feels especially relevant with the record-breaking heat of the past couple of decades.

In the 2023 edition of “Beat the Heat,” OSHA received 195 submissions. A panel of expert judges then evaluated these submissions and identified which among them best encapsulated each of five different categories: Strongest Message, Most Innovative, Most Creative, Highlighting Indoor Heat Hazards and Best Non-English Submission.
