Kids are back to school. How does that feel to you as a parent? Hello, my name is Michael Stack. I’m CEO of Amaxx, and now we’re well after Labor Day. All schools pretty much around the country are all back in session. Several schools start in August and some are year round, but everyone at this point should be all back in session and most of the parents around the country, you could hear the sigh.

Why Are Parents Thankful Kids Are Back to School?

Thank gosh, the kids are back to school. Why? Why is that? Why do you as a parent, say thank gosh the kids are back to school? And I will tell you the main reason, one of the main reasons is they’re back in a routine. They’re back in a routine. They’re back in having habits. You get up, you get dressed, you do your teeth, you eat breakfast, you pack your lunch, you get out the door and go to school, whether your parents are driving you or getting on the bus, whatever the routine is, you’re back in the routine. And there is incredible, incredible value in being back in a routine and being back in healthy habits versus in the summer where the kids are just, oh, I’m bored. I got nothing to do, blah, blah. Maybe they’re going to camp, maybe they’re doing this. But there’s no real specific consistency in what they’re doing. There’s no consistency in what they’re doing, and it leads to a lot of challenges oftentimes for the kids and for the parents, even though it’s wonderful to have some of that free time.

Consistency and Habits

Talk about this and think about this as a professional workers’ compensation professional in terms of return to work, in terms of return to work, when individuals, professionals, adults, are out of their routine when they’re injured and they’re not going back to work, they lack consistency. They lack consistency. They lack those healthy habits. Getting up, getting dressed, getting your breakfast ready, getting out the door, get your coffee, whatever your routine is, they’re lacking that because now they’re not working and all sorts of chaos oftentimes breaks out and challenges break out when that occurs. The mission of amax is twofold, drastically reducing costs for organizations. Number two, dramatically improving injured worker outcomes. You do that. You have to buy into this concept first. As the work comp professional of the value of return to work. You have to understand the value of return to work of what you’re doing and the gift you are giving to your injured workers by helping them get back to work.

Back to School and Return to Work

By putting these systems in place, by understanding transitional duty, by understanding the physical demands, the essential functions of the job, all the technical pieces of this, you’re giving a gift to individuals to help them get in back in, help them establish some consistency, help them have good habits. You need to buy in to the value of the mission before you can execute the mission. That’s what this video is all about. Understanding and buying in yourself to the value of return to work, understanding it yourself in terms of kids going back to school, you getting it back from routine, and you’re like, oh, yeah, I can see how that would be helpful for others. Again, my name is Michael Stack. I’m the CEO of Amaxx. Remember, your work today in workers’ compensation can have a dramatic impact on your company’s bottom line, but it will have a dramatic impact on someone’s life. Be great.
