There was a pedestrian accident Friday afternoon (May 27, 2016) in Gages Lake (unincorporated Lake County) in which a 12-year-old girl was critically injured.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 2:43 p.m. at Gages Lake and Almond Roads. According to the results of a preliminary investigation, at that time a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Gages Lake Road with a green light and struck the 12-year-old girl who was walking southbound and attempting to cross Gages Lake Road. The driver of the pickup truck was unable to avoid hitting the girl.
The girl was taken to Condell Hospital in Libertyville for treatment of her accident injuries, and then flown to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Her injuries were described as “critical injuries.”
The traffic crash investigation continues by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
