Our firm was extremely excited to hold our 1st Annual RESPECT Contest for
5th grade students of Pasadena Independent School District. The RESPECT
contest asks the students to tell us in a few sentences what respect means
to them and why it is important to show one another respect. The students
also included an illustration with their entry.
After reviewing all of the entries, we selected four winners and presented
them with an award at the Harris County Civil Courthouse this morning.
The ceremony was presided over by Judge Kyle Carter of the 125th District
Court. Judge Carter spoke briefly about the value of respect and the important
role it plays in our society. He and Jason Itkin then presented the student’s
with their awards.
Each student was given a small cash prize and a donation was made to a
charity of their choice.
Arnold & Itkin also made a $2,200 donation to Melillo Middle School where each of the students attends school. Principal Wheeler accepted the
donation on behalf of the school and plans to put it towards the development
of a new Outdoor Learning Center for the students.
Charitable Donations Made on Behalf of Students
Charitable donations were made on behalf of the winning students to the
following organizations:
- Scholarship America Dream Award ($1,000)
- El Cordero De Dios Templo Cristiano ($500)
- St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital ($350)
- Pleasant Hills Children’s Home ($350)
Representatives from the three of the charities were on hand to accept
the donation on behalf of their organization.
