46,000 Harley-Davidson’s Recalled

Harley-Davidson recently issued a recall on nearly 46,000 motorcycles. According to an Associated Press article, certain models could stay in gear due to clutches that won’t fully disengage. Under the right circumstances, gas bubbles can cause the master cylinder in the clutch to lose its ability to fully disengage. If this happens, a rider could lose control of the bike, if it’s started in gear. Bikes that have been parked for an extended period of time are at an especially high risk of this happening. Listed below are the models that are currently being recalled by Harley-Davidson.

• Road Glide
• Road King

Harley-Davidson discovered actually discovered the problem due to consumer complaints. If your motorcycle is on the recall list, contact a dealer immediately. They will flush the clutch and rebuild the master cylinder. If you’re not sure if your bike is under recall, you can check the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) at the Harley-Davidson website. The VIN will be on the steering head, and also located on a label on the right front down tube.

Crashes Due to Defective or Faulty Parts

If you think a defective or faulty part is to blame for your injury-causing wreck, you need to contact the vehicle manufacturer, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a lawyer as soon as possible. Recalls can only happen after automobile and motorcycle manufacturers come under pressure from consumers. They need to hear your voice, and you need to be fully compensated for your injuries, damages and vehicle. A lawyer can be your advocate during a difficult time. You need to focus on your recovery and getting back to your normal life. Let your attorney help you recover the money to pay the medical bills.
